·Lepanam- this medicated herbal paste is applied on the inflamed area.

·Nasyam- useful to cure headaches, mental disorders, skin diseases etc, the medicated oil is applied through the nose for 7 to14 days.

·Jnavara Kizhi- the treatment is effective for joint pain, rheumastism, high blood pressure etc. amixture of cow;s milk, balamoola Kashaya and cooked rice is in big boluses is massaged over the whole body with pressure.

·Pizhichil-the whole body is anointed with lukewarm herbal oil is better for about one hour or more should be continued for 7 to 14 days.

·Shiro Vasthi- on the cap fitted head of the patient, the herbal oil is poured about 15m to 1hour for 7 to 41days.

·Snhapanam- intake of medicated ghee for a period of 8 to 12 days, is a treatment for leukemia, arthritis, psoriasis

·Thalam- medicated oil mixed with a special powder is applied on the top of the head, is good for insomnia, migraine, ENT problems etc

·Udvarthanam-a massage with a special powder is effective for rheumatism, obesity, paralysis etc, is to be done for a period of 14 to 28 days, 30 to 45mts daily.

·Urovasthi- on the chest the warm medicated oil is kept for about 45mts, effective for asthma and other respiratory problems.

·Vasthi- this medicated enema of herbal oil applied through the rectum is an effectve curative for chronic constipation, gastric complaints, rheumatism, paralysis etc

·Yoni Prakshalanam- the purification of the genital organs done by the application of medicated oils through the vaginal ro ute is also better for gynecologic disorders.



Precautions:

·Persons with serious liver and renal problems are not preferred to take oil massage.

·Pressure and other parameters of the blood should be normal before starting any treatment.

·Obsessed, hepatic, renal and diabetic persons are not prescribed to take ‘jnavara kizhi’ fro the whole body.

·Persons with cerebral thrombosis are not recommended to take ‘SiroDhara’

·Only under the guidance of the physician, intensive steam bath should be taken.

A new hybrid of fraud has emerged where an appraiser or a real estate agent drastically devalues the property in an appraisal or broker’s price opinion (BPO) so that the home will sell with ease at a price well below market value. Of course the new buyer is in collaboration with the seller, agent and appraiser, so all of the conspirators proceed to sell the home at a higher price for a big profit.



Identity Theft



Identity theft fraud occurs when a victim’s identity is assumed by another to obtain a mortgage w ithout ever intending to make any payments on the loan. The perpetrators often abscond with a portion of the loan proceeds and sometimes are daring enough to lease the property and collect some deposits and rental income before disappearing.



The Buy and Bail



This completely new scheme is perpetrated by a home owner who cannot sell the home because more is owed on the property than its worth. Because no lender will provide the owner a loan for a second primary residence, the owner tells the lender that he or she plans to rent out the current home despite having no intention of doing so. Sometimes a falsified rental agreement is used to further support the falsehood. Once the second home is purchased, the owner “bails” on the original home and fails to make any further mortgage payments.

Mortgage fraud frequently emanates from groups that co mplete an abnormal amount of similar transactions or churn out many offers to purchase at once. Israeli forces stormed the lead ship, the Mavi Marmara

The Free Gaza Movement, the group behind the Gaza aid flotilla, is a broad coalition of human rights activists and pro-Palestinian groups that has been trying to break Israel's blockade of Gaza since 2008.

It is a registered charity based in Cyprus and is endorsed by international figures, including South African Archbishop Desmond Tutu and Nobel Peace Prize laureate Mairead Corrigan Maguire.

But in recent years Israeli intelligence agencies say it has grown to include dangerous Islamic organisations with terrorist links.

The six-ship flotilla was carryi ng 10,000 tonnes of medicine, construction materials and education supplies - the movement's largest operation to date.

There were more than 650 passengers, among them representatives of the Malaysian-based Perdana Global Peace Organisation, the Greece and Sweden-based Ship to Gaza group, and the large Turkish charity, IHH.

The Mavi Marmara, the lead ship stormed by Israeli troops, was operated by IHH, a group banned by Israel in 2008.

IHH raises some of its money from Islamic religious groups and has strong sympathy among Turkey's Islamist-rooted ruling party.

IHH, founded in 1992, is now active in 120 countries and has been present in recent disaster areas including Haiti.

The Intelligence and Terrorism Information Center (ITIC) - an Israel-based non-governmental organisation which has close ties to the Israeli Defense Forc es - does not dispute the organisation's legitimate philanthropic activities.

But the ITIC says the Turkish charity is an overt supporter of Hamas - an Islamic militant group that seized power in Gaza in 2007, and is branded by Israel, the EU and US as a "terrorist organisation".

The ITIC says it also has evidence the IHH has helped provide weapons and funds for "Islamic terrorist elements in the Middle East".

But Greta Berlin, a director of the Free Gaza Movement, said the claim that IHH has links to radical Islamist groups was "utterly scurrilous".

She said those on board the Mavi Marmara were unarmed civilians trying to get aid to Gaza.

She told the BBC News website that the Israelis acted illegally in international waters and now "they are trying to blacken the reputations of all of us".

Permanent sea lane

Israeli Deputy Foreign Minister Daniel Ayalon described the Free Gaza Movement mission as an "outrageous provocation".

"The organisers are well-known for their ties with global Jihad, al-Qaeda and Hamas," said Mr Ayalon. "They have a history of arms smuggling and deadly terror."

He said weapons were found onboard and used against the soldiers. Israel insists its commandos acted in self-defence, while enforcing a legal blockade of Gaza.

The Free Gaza Movement states its mission is "to overcome this brutal siege through civil resistance and non-violent direct action, and establish a permanent sea lane between Gaza and the rest of the world".

It attempted to make its first deliveries to Gaza in summer 2008, and tried again in 2009.

The earliest aid deliveries were allowed to reach Gaza but later attempts were intercepted.

Despite the deadly consequences of its latest aid mission, the Free Gaza Movement says it is already considering sending "a second wave" of boats to Gaza.

A North Korean submarine's torpedo sank a South Korean navy ship on 26 March causing the deaths of 46 sailors, an international report has found.

Investigators said they had discovered part of the torpedo on the sea floor and it carried lettering that matched a North Korean design.

Pyongyang rejected the claim as a "fabrication" and threatened war if sanctions were imposed, say reports.

China has urged both countries to show restraint.

South Korean President Lee Myung-bak pledged to take "stern action" against the North.

The White House described the sinking of the ship as an "act of aggression" by North Korea that challenged peace.

UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon said the report was "deeply troubling".

Pyongyang said it would send its own inspection team to the South to "verify material evidence" behind the accusation.

How the ship was sunk

A North Korean defence spokesman said the country would "respond to reckless countermeasure with an all-out war of justice", the state KCNA news agency reported.

Chinese foreign ministry spokesman Ma Zhaoxu said Beijing had "noted" the report and would make its own assessment, but called on both sides to exercise restraint.

The Cheonan went down near the disputed inter-Korean maritime border, raising tension between the two nations, which technically remain at war.

The shattered wreck of the 1,200-tonne gunboat was later winched to the surface, in two pieces, for examination.

The investigation was led by experts from the US, Australia, Britain and Sweden. The team examined eyewitness accounts, damage to the vessel, evidence collected from the seabed and the injuries sustained by survivors and those who died.

It said: "The evidence points overwhelmingly to the conclusion that the torpedo was fired by a North Korean submarine.

"There is no other plausible explanation."

'Perfect match'

Monitoring of seismic activity in the region, damage to the ship and the "fractures and lacerations" sustained by the dead crew were all consistent with "damage resulting from a shockwave and bubble effect" caused by an explosion directly beneath the vessel, it said.< br>

The report said the torpedo parts found "perfectly match" a torpedo type that the North manufactures.

Lettering found on one section matched that on a North Korean torpedo found by the South seven years ago.

There had earlier been a number of explanations suggested for the sinking, including an accidental collision with an unexploded sea mine left over from the Korean War.

Mr Lee's presidential office said he had told Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd: "We will be taking firm, responsive measures against the North - and through international co-operation, we have to make the North admit its wrongdoing and come back as a responsible member of the international community."

However, the BBC's John Sudworth in Seoul says agreeing an international response will be difficult as the diplomatic options will be limited.

Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Cui Tiankai said on Thursday the sinking of the vessel was "unfortunate" but he would not comment on the international report.

Absent from the White House statement is any call for retribution or military response. The US does not want fighting to break out on the Korean peninsula.

The White House, said one expert, will be looking for a response that deters, but does not provoke North Korea.

Sources here say the Obama administration is considering putting North Korea back on the list of countries which sponsor terrorism. That could mean sanctions. North Korea was removed from the list in 2008.

US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is due to travel to Japan, South Korea and China in the coming days. Managing this smouldering crisis between the two Koreas will no doubt occupy much of her time.

White House spokesman Robert Gibbs said US President Barack Obama had expressed his "deep sympathy" to Mr Lee and the Korean people and that the US "strongly condemned" the action.

"This act of aggression is one more instance of North Korea's unacceptable behaviour and defiance of international law," said Mr Gibbs, adding that it "only deepens North Korea's isolation".

He called the alleged attack "a challenge to international peace and security" and a violation of the armistice agreement which ended the Korean war.

But he said it had reinforced the resolve of North Korea's neighbours "to intensify their co-operation to safeguard peace and stability in the region against all provocations".

Japan's Prime Minister Yukio Hatoyama said in a statement that North Korea's action was "unforgivable".

The country's chief cabinet secretary, Hirofumi Hirano, said the situation was "extremely regrettable" and would "evidently" be brought before the UN.

The British embassy in Seoul quoted Foreign Secretary William Hague as saying: "[North Korea's] actions will deepen the international community's mistrust. The attack demonstrates a total indifference to human life and a blatant disregard of international obligations."

Adobe has launched its latest salvo in an ongoing dispute with Apple.

The co-founders of Adobe have published an open letter in which they say that Apple threatens to "undermine the next chapter of the web".

The software firm has also started an adverting blitz in newspapers and on popular technology news sites.

Some of the online adverts contain the tongue-in-cheek slogan "We heart Apple".

It follows a letter from Apple boss Steve Jobs in which he defended his firm's decision not to allow Adobe's Flash technology on many of its popular products.

Mr Jobs described Adobe's software - used on many websites for video and animations - as a "closed system" and "100% proprietary".

"While Adobe's Flash products are widely available, this does not mean they are open, since they are controlled entirely by Adobe and available only from Adobe."

Whilst Mr Jobs admitted that Apple also had "many proprietary products", he said that Apple believed "all standards pertaining to the web should be open".

Amongst other criticisms, he also said Flash performed poorly when used on touchscreen smartphones and handheld devices.

Adobe co-founders Chuck Geschke and John Warnock have now hit back.

"We believe that consumers should be able to freely access their favorite content and applications, regardless of what computer they have, what browser they like, or what device suits their needs," the letter reads.

"No company - no matter how big or how creative - should dictate what you can create, how you create it, or what you can experience on the web."

'Smokescreen'

Adobe's campaign is the latest move in a high-profile war of words between the two companies, which began with Apple's decision not to allow Flash technology to run on some of its popular gadgets such as the iPhone and iPad.

In early April, Apple also clamped down on the tools that it allowed developers to use to create applications for the iPhone and iPad.

By changing the terms of the licence that software developers must sign when writing code to run on Apple products, the firm effectively blocked developers from using software that Adobe was about to release. The software - Creative Suite 5 -contained tools that automatically translate Flash code into programs that will run on Apple gadgets.

Mr Jobs later justified the changes in his letter by saying that experience had shown that it could result in "sub-standard " applications.

But Adobe CEO Shantanu Narayen described Mr Job's letter as a "smokescreen" and said the decision had made it "cumbersome" for developers who were forced to have "two workflows".

Adobe has said it will stop making the tools.

Tongue-in-cheek

The new letter from the co-founders of Adobe attacks Mr Jobs' assertion that Flash is a closed system.

"As the founders of Adobe, we believe open markets are in the best interest of developers, content owners, and consumers."

"If the web fragments into closed systems, if companies put content and applications behind walls, some indeed may thrive - but their success will come at the expense of the very creativity and innovation that has made the internet a revolutionary force.

The company claims that its software- and particularly Flash - is open.

"We publish the specifications for Flash — meaning anyone can make their own Flash player," it reads.

"We believe that Apple, by taking the opposite approach, has taken a step that could undermine this next chapter of the web - the chapter in which mobile devices outnumber computers, any individual can be a publisher, and content is accessed anywhere and at any time.

"In the end, we believe the question is really this: Who controls the world wide web? And we believe the answer is: nobody — and everybody, but certainly not a single company."

In response to the letter, an Apple spokesperson said that the firm also believes in "open web standards" such as HTML5, the latest version of a programming language used to build web pages.

"Flash is not an open web standard like HTML. It is a proprietary Adobe product. Just ask the W3 consortium that controls web standards - they have chosen HTML5 as the open web standard to move forward with."

Adobe's letter has been published on its website as part of a global advertising campaign.

The adverts list a series of technologies that Adobe says it "loves".

It ends: "What we don't love is anybody taking away your freedom to choose what you create, how you create it, and what you experience on the web."

The adverts have been bought in the New York Times, Washington Post, San Francisco Chronicle as well as the Financial Times and Wall Street Journal. Online, they appear on Wired, Techcrunch and Engadget.
